- What it does now, and what it did just before it stopped
- Whether it was dropped, got wet, or was plugged into anything unusual
- A short video or photo, if the fault is something you can show
- Whether anyone has already opened or attempted to repair it
That is usually enough to narrow the fault down before the device is even on the bench, which means a faster answer and a more accurate estimate.
