A board is fed a controlled current before anything else. What it draws, nothing, a trickle, or a dead short, narrows the fault down before a single component is touched.
A shorted component heats up before it shows any other sign. The thermal camera points straight at it, which turns hours of probing into a few minutes.
Temperature-controlled hot air and fine-tip irons lift and reseat chips without cooking the board around them.
Liquid-damaged boards are cleaned in an ultrasonic bath first. Corrosion hides under chips and shields, and it keeps eating the board until it is removed.
Guesswork is expensive. Working from the manufacturer schematic means following the actual circuit to the actual failure instead of replacing parts hopefully.

The device is opened, inspected under the microscope and measured. The goal is the cause, not the symptom: a television with no picture and a television with a failed backlight driver are two different repairs.

The fix is carried out, then the device is put back under load and run properly before it goes home with you. A repair that only holds up on the bench is not a finished repair.
